Sedate Bulldozer

Tuesday, Apr. 06, 2010 - 12:19 a.m.

Yesterday was pretty sedate here.

I was very very interested in taking a nap, and it was fairly quiet.

Well, except for the scratching cats, and the bulldozer next door.

---

The school that's usually full of soccer games on weekends and screaming children during the weekdays has been closed, and the building is being razed along with the first six inches of dirt.

There were bulldozers Vroom room rooming up and down the empty schoolyard from about ten until three scraping up the chunks of lawn.

---

At around noon, I gave up and shut the windows, which I can't stand doing when I'm about to take a nap.

Then Laila and Solange took turns sharpening their claws on the boxspring under the mattress I was trying to nap on.

Do any of you know what that sounds like?

While I was laying on the bed, with an ear down close to the mattress, the cats' scratching and thumping on the boxspring sounded like a kettle drum.

Bless their pointy little heads, they won't go near the bed if I'm not laying on it trying to sleep.

So Dave's first order of business last night when he got home was to gather up the cats and clip their claws.

I fully expect the cats to scratch the boxspring again.

But this time, it will sound more like 'gumming', and not be so loud.

---

Dave and I stayed in last night to watch Angels Baseball, and it's a series versus the Twins.

If all goes well, we'll be at a game before I go home.

---

Nothing else to write about from here.

Have a nice Tuesday.
