Father's Day 2009 Sunday, Jun. 21, 2009 - 12:25 a.m. In honor of this Father's Day, I am presenting a picture that I've loved for years. This is "Bones" Kah and his son, Harley Davidson Kah.
I saw this picture in a magazine when I was about ten years old, and it struck me as such a wonderful image of father and son that I hauled it around with me for about a decade, and then, ironically, it was lost in my move away from home. In the first week of July last year, for reasons unknown, that image suddenly kept coming to mind. So I went and looked to see if I could find whatever became of "Bones" Kah. And I found his obituary. He had died on June 28th, 2008. So I left a condolence message on the webpage of the funeral home that was handling his arrangements, mentioning the picture as one of my favorite images from childhood -- and I got a lovely long email back from his daughter, who enclosed the image you see here. Yesterday was the one-year memorial ride for him. Harley is around 34 years of age now. :-) Anyway, just thought I'd share. --- To my brother Jon. To my father-in-law Joe, and to my brother-in-law Joey. To my band-mates, Alan, Mike, and Todd. Happy Father's Day to you guys. Also, readers, if you have never gone over and clicked on the starfish to the left, go do it and see a writeup that I did about my own father, please. Thanks. Have a good Sunday! And PS -- Happy first day of summer! ---
