Sunday & Memorial Day Monday, May. 31, 2004 - 5:54 a.m. Sunday went better than I thought it would; in fact, we made more money on Sunday than we did on Saturday and Friday put together. --- Today is the last day of our work behind the table for Studio Proteus. The job is going away because my boss, Toren Smith, is getting out of the co-publishing business with Dark Horse. One of the things he got as part of his contract were complimentary promotional copies of whatever titles he co-published with them. For ten years, it's been our job to bring those promotional titles to trade shows and distribute them to fans. I have watched some customers grow up, literally. Awkward and shy, but literate and kind, these younger people have grown into tall and graceful adults through the years. And fortunately, they've kept their love of manga. :-) It's like a family to me. There are so many people that I'm going to miss. Even though I will not be behind a table next year, I plan to attend Fanime Con anyway, because I enjoy Japanese animation and comics, and I want to spend time with people of like mind and actually get out and -socialize- instead of being behind a dealer's table. --- Tomorrow, it's all going to be done. I'll be finished working for this company. I keep saying that to myself and not believing it. I don't think I'll bother wearing eye makeup today. --- Tomorrow night -- Keane. I forgot to pack their CD yesterday; I missed listening to them. --- Anyway, that's it for now. Everybody stay safe on this Memorial Day, please. --- P.S. -- One of the diaries I read belongs to Elgan, who has posted an amazing picture of her mother. I have not seen a face so full of life and character in a very long time. Elgan, once again, thank you for sharing that with us. :-) ---
