Family History

Sunday, Jun. 13, 2004 - 8:01 a.m.

I'm all unpacked.

I did this in less time than I thought I would. The rocks from the Rockies are now on my altar, along with the amethyst. The Keane items are now prepared for insertion into a scrapbook binder. And I'm looking forward to making a memory book for Todd of the trip.

It was a time. :-)

---

I spoke with my cousin Helen Landerman for the first time in my life on the telephone yesterday. How wonderful it is to find out that there's a streak of nuttiness in evidence in the other branches of my father's family tree!

I saw it was her calling, and I answered the telephone "Hi, Cuz!"

She gasped, laughed, and said "Oh, you have caller ID!" And I said "Yeah I... I mean, no, I don't; I'm, uh, I'm psychic, yeah, that's it..." Which made her laugh even harder.

It's official, I am in fact doing the name badges for the family reunion.

Helen is a little older than me, and is the daughter of Uncle Lee.

My Grandpa Landerman died when I was a little over a year old. I do not remember him.

He did get a chance to visit with me and hold me, and I think there might even be a picture somewhere of this occasion, but I'll be dipped if I know where it could be.

Up until yesterday evening when speaking to my cousin, I had no idea that my paternal grandfather was addressed by his middle name. She only knew him as Uncle Arnold.

I do remember his brother Lee, Helen's dad. I also remember Uncle Roy, and I also remember Uncle Seth. I must surely have been in the same room as Helen on at least two separate Landerman family occasions, but I don't know for certain.

It's a pity that I don't know who my father's family really is; that's why I feel so compelled to attend and lay eyetracks on everybody at least once.

I intend to leave an impression. At least I'll try.

Oh gee, I guess I have to wear a dress. Ewwie.

---

In other news, one of my regular readers out there is going to receive a surprise visit from me very soon. Heh heh.

---

Finally, here's a recent picture of me which was taken on June 8th, to finish the roll of pictures from Colorado. I have no makeup on and my hair was kind of disastrous, but it's still not half bad.

---

P.S. -- I just rummaged around in the Closet of Doom and made a very special discovery.

My maternal grandmother kept some dresses that were of sentimental value to her. They are mine now.

I have just tried on the dark blue silk dress that she wore to my father's wedding to my mother in 1959. It fits perfectly.

That's the one I'll wear to the reunion.
