Craigslist / Pee Wee / Doping

Monday, Jul. 10, 2006 - 3:02 a.m.

I sneak a look at Best Of Craigslist once in awhile, and last night I saw this.

God help me, I almost forwarded it to several people I know.

---

Last night, we had the urge for Pride & Prejudice, so we broke out the 1995 miniseries at around 7, and we actually got through nearly all of it before John dinked out and went to bed.

As of this writing, John is up again with a tummy-ache, and is probably taking the day off.

But that means he's asleep during my usual morning rounds.

---

Tonight, Pee Wee's Playhouse begins airing on The Cartoon Network. I watched it religiously twenty years ago, and I'm interested in seeing if it still appeals to me.

---

This year's Tour De France has an element of excitement and surprise in it, thanks to two things. 1. Lance Armstrong isn't in the race, and 2. Due to suspected links to a Spanish doping scandal, neither are Ivan Basso, Jan Ullrich, Francisco Mancebo, and because most of his teammates were excluded, Kazakh Alexandre Vinokourov dropped out. What this means is that the top five finishers of last year's Tour are not in the race this year.

There are a few Americans who are in contention, specifically Levi Leipheimer, who was sixth last year -- and Floyd Landis, who is currently second. George Hincapie was expected to do better than he's been doing, but he's a climber like Lance, and it's probable that he'll make up the 90 second gap in the mountain stages, coming up soon.

The long and the short is that there's actually no clear contender for this year's race.

So, that will be nice.

---

That's it from here. Have a Monday.
