Band At Moose

Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007 - 11:01 a.m.

I took a couple of pictures in the available light, just to see if I could get a few halfway decent images without draining the batteries with a flash.

These are the two best ones taken at the Moose Lodge on Saturday night:

Here's Dave Kern, as he puts his picks on his mike stand. The loading bay doors are still open, so the cloudy afternoon provided most of the light:

And later in the evening, after one of the two spotlights could be coaxed into working, here's Dave Murphy on the drums.

Again, the pic was taken with only available light, which is why this picture has a blur, but I kind of like it anyway, because it's an entirely appropriate blur:

As for Bob Chance, the other spotlight refused to work, so, unfortunately he was somewhat in the dark.

A lot of the Cero's crowd came and supported the band. Even Bob's family showed up for a bit because it was an early gig; the grankies have grown so tall, and it was good to see Bob's wife again, too. She fed me last year when Bob and I were working on the album, and I've always been grateful for that hospitality.

---

The only issue I needed to deal with in regard to the event was the fact that the Moose Lodge is in fact a private club, which meant cigarette smoking was allowed indoors. As my regular readers know, I quit smoking many years ago.

However, something of an upside was that I didn't seize up lung- or allergy-wise, which astonished me; maybe my body remembered what it was like to live with two smoking parents for the first nineteen years of my life.

My clothing was kind of funky, but a Febreeze baptism seems to have eliminated the problem.

---

Overall, I'd say it was a nice fun evening in an intimate venue with a wonderful crowd.

Next time, I'll remember to sit by the door and not wear something I plan to need the following day.

---

I think that's it. Have a good Sunday!
