Starkey Snark Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008 - 12:14 a.m. John returns to work today after a three-day weekend, during which we observed our seventeenth wedding anniversary. --- Today, Perfect Symmetry is released in the USA. I guess I'm going to go ahead and get the CD and support Keane on tour, but still. Yick. Not impressed with what I've heard so far -- sorry. --- In the No No No No, I Ain't Signing No More department, Ringo Starr has set a deadline past which he will not read fan mail or give autographs. He says he has too many other things to do. This is fine. PETE still reads HIS mail. And I don't recall George Harrison ever saying anything like this in the months preceding his death. Me? I think ole Mistah Starkey has himself a fence on eBay and he's gonna make skillions of dollars from the existing stash of signatures. --- Not sure who amongst ye are reading Art Caldwell's diary, but in case you haven't heard, here is some news. While he was at his job at Qwest Field on Sunday, somebody who had access to the employee lockers on site broke into his locker and three others, and stole their contents. These lockers were not accessible by the public, but only by employees. Ordinarily this would be just another theft, except for one thing: Art is homeless right now, and aside from the clothes he was wearing, the cell phone and laptop were the only two things he owned. They were his main lifelines and his way to stay in touch with his friends, and look for more work. Right now, he has a few bucks from the tips he made at the game, and a place to eat and sleep, but that's basically it. According to a guest entry in Art's diary from Beanie, she called his cell phone and a kid answered, and eventually Bean had the precious snowflake hand the phone to his mommy and Bean then explained to the kid's mom that this was Art's phone and it had been stolen. Kid's mommy says an employee of Qwest Field sold it to her for ten dollars. Mumble mutter... --- As for Art's laptop? It's set to send out an AAOOGAH to both Art and the police, followed by a GPS beacon, in case somebody switches it on and tries to use it. If the product works like the website says it does, then there will hopefully be good news very soon. --- I'm seeing sad news here about one of my favorite actors and his son... PARIS (AP) Hospital officials say 37-year-old French actor Guillaume Depardieu has died from complications linked to a sudden case of pneumonia he acquired while in Romania. Way to go. Three cheers for socialized European medicine, huh? --- All right, there ya go. Have a good Tuesday! ---
