F5 / Randycam / Aerobics

Friday, Aug. 15, 2003 - 8:58 a.m.

This week's Friday Five: (Questions are boldface, my answers appear beneath.)

How much time do you spend online each day?

A: Entirely too much.

What is your browser homepage set to?

A: Studio Proteus Online.

Do you use any instant messaging programs? If so, which one(s)?

A: I use Yahoo Messenger and AIM.

Where was your first webpage located?

A: My first webpage was located in San Francisco over on a site called the Tatertot Liberation Front; this was at the end of 1994, and I'm still friends with the guy who used to run the site, Tom Lemos.

How long have you had your current website?

A: I've had my website over on AOL (see below) since the first week of 1995, and I've been at Diaryland since March of this year.

Okay. Now, if you wanna play Friday Five, go here.

I was pleased to see that RandyCam is back after a summer hiatus; The original subject, Randy, died in April. There's a new cat to observe, but the site is named in honor of its original star.

---

I have now mastered an hour of aerobics a day. This was my goal, and I've met it.

Although... there were many tricks I played on myself in order to get this done.

My brains are built in such a way that I really can only truly concentrate on one thing at a time no matter how many things I happen to be doing. For instance, if I'm doing the dishes with the radio on, and listening to the radio, the dishes will get done, but I'm listening to the radio, so I haven't actually paid strict attention to the actual dish-doing. They get done, they are done correctly, clean and placed in the drainer and yadda yadda, but -- I simply do not remember the details, because I was listening to the radio. However, the point is, they got done.

I'm discovering the same thing is true with aerobics. If I just do my exercises with my videotape, they seem to drag. BUT, if I get a DVD, and place it in the player with the captions on, and switch to a radio station with good music to dance to? An hour elapses without feeling like it's been an hour. Yesterday, for instance, I watched the first hour of "Les Comperes", and completed my hour without even thinking of it, because I was involved in the movie.

---

The Low Carb / No Carb seems to be working, but I've consumed so much cheese I keep having the impulse to turn around and see if somebody is trying to cut off my tail with a carving knife.

---

Jamie survived the power outage yesterday, but he had an awful lot of time to sit in the dark and think about things, so when he got to work, he quit his job at Wal*mart. Well, Jamie, you tried, which is the important part.
